It was all very sedate and ever so slightly staged. This felt more like an exhibition than a golf tournament. Which, being cynical, may have been precisely what it was — a demonstration by Augusta National Golf Club that prejudicial antics can be considered a thing of the past. Augusta was of a mind to portray it as one giant leap forward for womankind. The field was 30, the attendance in the thousands, although impossible to quantify entirely.
